Emma Stokes, also known as Gin Monkey, started out in the industry whilst at university, where she started bartending in pubs and university bars, before moving to London and working in cocktail bars. In 2009, she became a member of the Juniper Society, which was held at Graphic Bar in Golden Square. This was a meeting place for the bon-vivants of the growing modern gin renaissance; many of today's well-established new brands featured there, including many of the members of the Gin Hall of Fame. Since then, Emma has been fundamental in the global phenomenon that is World Gin Day, a celebration that truly is planetary-wide. Emma has published two books, including The Periodic Table of Cocktails, and has launched her own gin-related card game. She has also collaborated and consulted on a number of different gins and is a regular contributor to various drink publications. In 2021, she was awarded ‘Icons of Gin - Communicator of the Year’. A member of The Gin Guild, Emma has provided over a decade of encouragement and wisdom to an assortment of gin producers, bartenders, and consumers. Emma is an unapologetic advocate of keeping the juniper berry very much at the heart of all gins.
